SICMAR 2016 reflects the vision of the UMIP

With the introduction by the typical music group “Mares de mi Patria” (Seas of my Country) and a welcome cocktail, attended by key players in the maritime industry, the Panama International Maritime University (UMIP) with the support and sponsorship of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) opened the second version of the Maritime Civil Engineering Week (SICMAR 2016).

The SICMAR 2016 objective was to find ways to articulate the overall vision that should be aimed for by the UMIP for the future of Maritime Civil Engineering, addressing all levels and facets of the profession, in addition to the curriculum and software skills to establish an adequate profile and get new information to support the curriculum updating process.

During the week, organized by the Faculty of Maritime Civil Engineering (Faicima) students had additional space to view the technological advances of the sector and strengthening academic and leadership skills.

The administrator of the AMP, Jorge Barakat, said he felt privileged that the institution he leads sponsors SICMAR 2016, an event that is of substantive importance to academic training, while he received a scroll of appreciation for support to the activity.
