The Megapolis Convention Center will be the venue for the Panama Maritime XIII Conference and World Exhibition that will take place from the 12th to the 14th of March. The event brings together the shipping industry leaders with the regulators and experts of this sector.
This biannual event, in its 13rd edition, will have more than 100 exhibitors spread on a surface of more than 1,600 square meters. This year the fair will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Panama Flag Registry.
The aim of the Conference and Exhibit organized by the Panama Chamber of Shipping and the Panamanian Maritime Law Association (Apademar), “is to bring together the main leaders of this wide sector to share in a forum and find new solutions to the most important challenges that the industry faces today and in the years to come,” said Flor Torrijos, Panama Maritime Organizer Committee president.
Torrijos said that anyone who is involved in the logistics and maritime sector should not only register, but actively participate in this event.
Panama Maritime is aimed at shipowners, bunker industry, ports, ship repairers or shipyards, classifiers, companies providing services and food; as well as agencies, adjusters, inspectors, ports, lawyers, brokers.
An important commercial mission from Holland representing companies such as Damen, VT Shipping will attend the event as well as another from the United Kingdom which includes representatives and financial centers.
Torrijos said that a team of professionals representing almost all sectors of industry are part of the organizing committee and the expectation is that everyone who participates in the conference will find a good solution to the challenges they face, and that during the exhibition and scheduled social events they will manage to close important businesses.
For this version of the Panama Maritime so far 300 delegates have confirmed their assistance to the conferences. The official program will be announced and subjects such as LNG and Ballast Water among others will be discussed.
Torrijos informed that there will be important speakers such as the presidents of South Korea and Greece Shipping Associations, Jens Maul, Oldendorff Carriers director; John Hatley, Market Shaping of Wärtsilä North America director and Henry Lancaster of Chemoil Corporation.
There will also be at the event: Jorge Barakat, Panama Maritime Authority administrator; Jorge Luis Quijano, Panama Canal administrator and representatives of the International Maritime Organization and (IMO) and International Bunker Industry Association.
