FCC wins contract to build storage terminalThe consortium FCC and Felguera IHI have won the contract to construct the Vopak oil storage terminal in Bahía las Minas (province of Colón), on the Panamanian Atlantic coast.

The contract was awarded by Royal Vopak, one of the world’s leading providers of independent tank storage for the oil and chemical industry.

The new terminal will be located next to the Chevron terminal of 509,000 mbc (thousands of barrels of oil) in Panama. It will have nine storage tanks for marine oil, fuel oil and clean petroleum products (diesel, gasoline and Jet A) with a total capacity of approximately 360,000 m3. The project includes, in addition to the new tank farm, the complementary marine infrastructure, including the construction of piers for docking vessels of up to 80,000 tons dwt.

The work is scheduled for an immediate start, with a deadline of 24 months.
