United States lends airport equipment to Panama

As part of joint efforts by Panamanian and US authorities to improve regional air transport safety, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) provided equipment for aviation security inspection to the Panamanian State.

This project, which began in 2015, comes after the resumption of the global commitment to strengthen civil aviation safety standards unanimously approved by the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2309 of September 22, 2016.

The equipment loan will be carried out in stages over a period of two weeks, during which it will be delivered to different facilities under the administration and supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC). The purpose of the equipment loan is to assist the AAC in its arduous task of ensuring the safety of passengers traveling to and from Panama, optimizing and increasing the inspection capacity at each airport.

With this contribution, the US diplomatic representation in Panama seeks to further strengthen ties of cooperation in bilateral security, and to strengthen the close friendship between the two countries.
