Demóstenes Pérez new president of COEL

The Logistical Business Council (COEL) made up of 18 business guilds, swore in Demóstenes Pérez as its new president of the Board of Directors for the period 2017-2018.

The new Board includes Enrique Clement as vice president; Antonio García-Prieto as treasurer; Ángel Sánchez, as a spokesman; and Giomar González, as secretary.

Perez’s predecessor is Leroy Sheffer, who chaired the 2015-2016 Council period.

The president-elect of COEL is part of GS1 Panama, where he stood out for his work in the Council as one of the drivers of the sector.

In his first speech, Perez expressed his intention to support all the initiatives in favor of the growth of the logistics sector, which has sustained its growth. In fact, in the last year, Panama has taken advantage of growth areas, consolidating the, by 11% per year.

However, in order to continue to develop related activities and to benefit the private sector and the local labor force, platforms such as those used by the National Customs Authority should be in line with regional and global standards.
