Free Zone gets very good results in its first transparency evaluation

The Administration of the Colon Free Zone (ZOLICOL) achieved first position in the first assessment of 2013 by Transparency in Public Administration.

Blackouts could affect the maritime sector

Sources in the shipping and logistics industry have said that if the government decides to program blackouts the image of the Panamanian ports would be tarnished and a significant amount of money could be lost as cargo waits to be processed.

Most affected would be reefer (refrigerated) containers, but all movements would be affected.

Canadian ship illegally opens fire in Jamaica

The Canadian government has finally admitted that one of its ships, crewed by Canadian naval reservists participating in the US-led “war on drugs” last year, broke international maritime law by firing their weapons and intercepting fishing trawlers in Jamaican waters.

Agreement reached on Panama Canal expansion strike

Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC), in charge of the construction of the third set of locks of the Panama Canal, said the strike by workers from Saturday, April 6, on the Atlantic side, was raised with the mediation of the Government and the work will resume.
