In line with ongoing modernization and digitalization of processes related to foreign trade, Terminal Pacifico Sur Valparaiso (TPS) has developed and put into operation a new online tool. It is designed to streamline the supply chain and the transfer in the main port terminal of Valparaiso. This is the footprint of electron temperature, a web application for the exchange of information related to the maintenance of the cold chain in refrigerated containers known in the trade as reefers, and it generates significant benefits for the various parties involved in the logistics chain of the port, such as shipping companies, ship agencies and forwarding agents, as well as the port operator, TPS. With the implementation of this system shipping companies have been given the ability to virtually validate the information provided by shipping agents and they in turn can handle reefer cargo without requiring their physical presence at the port or in the shipping agency offices. It is not necessary to print out information, only a list to be presented to the command level of every ship, in line with the objective of TPS – “Zero Paper” in the process and thus contributing to the environment.
