Colon Free Zone manager presents budget for 2013

The sum of $10 million has been provided for investment in the Colon Free Zone in 2013, said the zone’s manager, Leopoldo Benedetti, after appearing at the Budget Committee of the National Assembly.

In his presentation, Benedetti reported that next year this entity will receive a budget cut of $3 million in investment, but said that in 2013 there are plans to develop a number of major projects for the area.

“We have some of the projects scheduled to begin construction, such as bridges, the four pumping stations that are located in the area of France Field, physical improvement to structures that date back over 25 years, the 15th Street extension within the zone, trade development, improving entry and exit in Coco Solito, stormwater channel maintenance, a wastewater treatment plant and construction of the perimeter fence at Davis,” he said.

Mr. Benedetti explained that one of the most important projects to be developed is construction of the new Administration Building of the Free Zone, which will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.
