The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) held its annual EXPOCOMER trade fair at the Atlapa Convention Center from March 23 to 26.
The 2011 event was attended by the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla Miranda as a guest speaker.
This trade event is the biggest and most important in the region with over 500 companies and 20 countries of America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia participating, giving them the opportunity to represent their lines, including food, textiles to technology and heavy equipment to buyers who attended the twenty-ninth edition of this event.
It is noteworthy that also in the framework of Expocomer were the 5 mega projects undertaken by the Panamanian Government, such as the Panama Metro, the Curundú urban renewal, the expansion of the Tocumen International Airport, the progress of the expansion of the Panama Canal and the road realignment of Panama City.
During Expocomer 2011, for the fifth consecutive year, along with the CCIAP, the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT) awarded the National Prize for Innovation. This award was given to a Panamanian or Panamanian companies with innovative ideas.
The next event, Expocomer 2012, will mark 30 years of promoting the commerce of Panama and the region and will be held from March 21 to 24, 2012.
