El Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) proyecta recuperación del crecimiento económico y comercial en el 2017 en los países en vías de desarrollo y las economías emergentes, al tiempo que en Estados Unidos alcanzará“algún moméntum”. A mediano plazo visualiza un fortalecimiento de los países emergentes y en desarrollo, pero poco cambio en los países desarrollados debido al débil crecimiento de la productividad.

Sale of bunker in Panama increased by 7.33%

La venta de combustible puede ser un gran negocio para Panamá.

The sale of bunker registered until October last year had an increase of 7.33% in comparison with the same period in 2015, reported the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP). However, in 2015 the growth was bigger until October, with 17.25% in comparison with 2014. With regards with the amount of vessels that bought fuel, the number has decreased by 6.08% in comparison with the previous period.

Tocumen International Airport general manager, Joseph Fidanque Tercero, has broken ground for the construction of an International Waste Plant.

This plant has the capacity to technically and effectively handle the collection, selection and final disposal of organic and inorganic residues, liquids and non-dangerous substances that are left by aircraft which operate in that air terminal. Panamanian tropical fruit exports decreased by 45%

Los TLC han afectados la exportación de frutas a Estados Unidos y Europa.

The Office of the Comptroller General has estimated that Panamanian exports will have decreased by 8% this year, when compared to 2015. This decrease is mainly due to the low export of tropical fruits, which has decreased by 45% since 2009, explained an article published in the daily “La Prensa”.

TRANSITS UP

Some 500 transits were registered in the expanded Panama Canal up until last week, amid a decrease of revenues from fewer transits of smaller ships. According to figures from the Comptroller’s Office, up until October, there was a 6.8% decrease in the transit of ships through the Panama Canal and $51 million less in tolls compared to the same period of the previous year.
