New Greek tax policy will affect Panama Ship Register

A threat looms to the Panamanian ship registry because the Greek parliament approved a tax reform that will impact the ship owners in the country, who control about 16% of the world merchant fleet.

A major shipping watchdog has published, “Brokers and other transportation companies will, in the future, pay a tax of 10% in turnover of up to 200,000 euros, 8% for the following 200,000 euros then a 6% tax on turnover exceeding €400,000.”
