Panama could present candidate for Secretary General of the IMO

Panama could present a candidate to be secretary general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in a process that has just been opened, following the announcement last week by Koji Sekimizu, the current secretary general that he will not stand for re-election after his term ends in December 2015.

The possibility of Panama presenting a candidate was revealed to The Bulletin by absolutely reliable sources.

The Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Roberto Linares Tribaldos, received a courtesy visit from the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Koji Sekimizu, to strengthen ties of friendship and bilateral support. Also present were the Mayor of the city of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, J. Wiebe de Boer and the Ambassador of Panama in Britain, Ana Irene Delgado.
