Fans Bid Adieu to Moordale as Netflix Reveals Premiere Date for Last Instalment
Netflix dropped major news for fans of the critically-acclaimed British teen comedy ‘Sex Education’ as the streaming giant announced the premiere date for the highly-anticipated fourth and final season. Creator Laurie Nunn confirmed back in July that the upcoming season would mark the end of Otis Milburn’s misadventures at Moordale Secondary school.
Fans had been anxiously awaiting details about the show’s conclusion ever since. Now, Netflix has revealed that the eight-episode fourth season will debut globally on September 21, 2023, bringing the funny, heartwarming and sexually frank story to a close.
As per tradition, all episodes of the final season will drop at midnight Pacific Time on the premiere date. This gives loyal ‘Sex Education’ viewers worldwide the chance to binge the conclusion to the comedy from the comfort of their homes.
A Fitting Farewell
Series creator Laurie Nunn stated that she felt the storylines had reached a satisfying resolution when crafting Season 4, allowing her to end the series on a high note. “I felt happy for the characters and I felt like I’ve said everything that I want to say with these characters at this time,” Nunn told Tudum.
The upcoming season will follow Otis, Eric and their classmates as they adjust to a new school setting at Cavendish Sixth Form College after Moordale Secondary closes down. Fans can look forward to more heartwarming moments of personal growth and sexual discovery amid the typical teen hijinks.
In a recent interview with Variety, Asa Butterfield, who plays Otis, teased that this season will focus on his character navigating new relationships and deciding what he wants for his future. “I think Otis is trying to work out what really matters to him – whether that’s romance or something else,” Butterfield said.
Familiar Faces Return for Final Bow
Fans will be thrilled to know that all their favorite characters from Moordale Secondary will reprise their roles one last time in Season 4. This includes Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn, Emma Mackey as Maeve Wiley, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric Effiong, Gillian Anderson as Dr. Jean Milburn and many more beloved cast members.
The new season will also introduce a batch of exciting new students and teachers at Cavendish led by American Horror Story alum Thaddea Graham and Canadian comedian Dan Levy. After three hilarious seasons of advocating for better sex education, fans can’t wait to see how Otis, Eric, Maeve and the entire Motis-shipping crazy community wrap up their high school journeys.
